Superstition!

So as I am stuck on the ferry with no youtube, I thought it would be an excellent reason to blog! I am on my way back to the mainland to have a girlie weekend with my Mom. I am excited to see my family, especially my furry brother and sister (the dogs). I am happy to have ended off this week with a bang as I ROCKED that meeting I had to present to the WW members yesterday. It is coming along slowly :). Also had a chance to have girl time with Dee. We had gluten free waffles at West Coast Waffles. NOM!

I hope to purchase a new fuel belt for running as I see that mine is developing a hole in the pouch and also (since it is velcro I cannot adjust it) it is loose around the waist and starts to slowly spin around while I am running. After buying this, I hope to get in a long run of about 29-30 km.

That Rock'n'Roll Seattle Marathon is really creepin' up on me. Getting me a little nervous but I know I will be fine. I have thought of possibly downgrading to the half marathon (which I know I could rock) but it would be good to set myself yet another challenge. I CAN do this.

Another thing. I am not sure about you guys, but I am SUPER superstitious when it comes to athletic events. (I would so have a playoff beard if this was even possible..WHAT?! I have to support my Canucks!) Anyway, I feel as if there is a curse on the shoes I have been training in, and I ran my marathon recently in...Silly, right?! Its mainly because I have managed to tweak or even full out sprain my ankle twice in these babies, fallen flat on my face, didn't preform to what I had hoped on marathon day.. etc etc. I know it may sound ridiculous to some, but I am TERRIBLE for athletic superstitions.

For example,

SOCCER..Shin pads and socks had a certain order of how I put them on. Also had a odd routine before kick off. (jump up and down three times while knocking my feet together in the air, then ripping a small handful of grass (if we weren't on turf) and throwing it to the side...

VOLLEYBALL: before each serve of every player I had to wipe my court shoes on my hands and squat down touching the ground first...before I served I bounced the ball with one hand three times..with both hands three times.. then would spin it three times between my hands.. Gave myself 3 seconds of focus on that ball and a deep breath..
OH, and god forbid I warm up for a game in my jersey! Had to be in a random t shirt. Oh and the knee pads and knee high socks went on in a specific order.. (the knee pads I labeled them so that the Left would ALWAYS be on the left knee and what not)

However, I had no superstitious routines before a dance routine. I used to dance Ballet, hip hop, irish, jazz and tap....think that is all..

I have been athletic all of my life, even though I was overweight most of it. I have always had a huge passion for sports and dance. Yet I had these weird little routines haha.

I always wonder why people were superstitious about things or items in life.. and here I am noticing all the weird things I did as an athlete and STILL do.

Do you have any superstitions you follow in life or in sport?
